Medium intense ruby in colour, Pino becomes more and more exciting with a spectacularly prominent ring of glycerine and an almost oily sluggish movement. A youthful, evolving nose of barrel spices, red-fleshed fruit and some minerality. When tasted, a nice varietal character emerges, shaped mainly by aromas of ripe cherry, black cherry and raspberry. The concentration and richness of flavour is due to the fruit from the 20 year old vineyard in the Steiger vineyard, which is very well endowed. The fine tannins from 14 months of barrel ageing and the notes of dark chocolate and roasted aromas are a definite presence, but the finish shows a noticeable integration.
