Sopron Protected Designation of Origin (OEM) dry red wine.
Medium intense ruby colour with purple reflections. Concentrated aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, black cherries, with spiciness of liquorice and black pepper, with a hint of prunes. The flavour is also dominated by black cherries, blackberries and blackcurrants, very juicy, complemented by a trio of prunes, black pepper and juniper berries.
Hand-harvested, gentle berrying. Fermentation on skins for 21 days, with hand-passage. This is followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation and then a year of ageing in new 300-litre Hungarian and Austrian oak barrels for 70% of the batch, two to three years old and 30%.
Recommended pairings: game, roast beef, semi-hard and smoked cheeses.
