Ottó Cellar
The history of Ottó Cellar began in 1982, when Ottó Németh and his wife inherited a 1 500 m2 vineyard. Since then the family estate has been continuously expanding and developing. The mission of the winery is to cultivate the vineyards with conscious plant care, without unnecessary strain on the environment and the vines. The Kohlenberg vineyard is fully organic.
The Németh Family cultivates 15 hectares of vineyards in the countryside from Harka to Fertőboz. In addition to the typical Sopron Blue Frankish, there are Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Nero, Turan and a real speciality: the Dornfelder are in the red wine grape assortment. The white varieties in the repertoire include Green Veltliner, Irsai Olivier, Sauvignon Blanc, Zenit, Chardonnay and Furmint.
The wines are made using traditional methods, both in the family cellar in Sopron on the Lóki row and in the cellar in the organic area of the Kohlenberg vineyard. The most special wine of the Ottó Cellar is the “Totti küvé”, a blend of Dornfelder and Turán varieties based on Blue Frankish.
