Jandl Cellar

The Jandl family is an old, Poncichter family, who have been involved in viticulture and winemaking for generations. It is interesting to note that Kálmán Jandl was the first person in Hungary who planted Shiraz grapes. His son Arnold Jandl has been managing the winery in Fertőrákos since 2002.

He cultivates about 9 hectares of vineyards in the Fertőrákos-Sopron-Balf triangle, which include Blue Frankish, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zweigelt, Green Veltliner and Pinot Blanc.

Arnold Jandl is also a naturalist in viticulture and winemaking: he tries to avoid, or at least minimize, the use of chemical protection and chemicals.

Around 40 000 bottles of wine are produced in the Jandl Cellar every year.

Their top wine is the Blue Frankish, called “Missio”, which is harvested from very limited yields of old vines, fermented on long skins and aged in barrels.

Jandl Cellar sells only bottled wine, Jandl wines are present in wine shops, supermarkets and in the top gastronomy in Budapest. In their tasting room in Fertőrákos, they welcome tourists all year round, where cold dishes are served alongside the wines to ensure an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
