Voices of Blue Frankish Wine and Gastronomic Experience Day took place with great interest, with national and international participants.
Sopron, the capital of Blue Frankish, hosted an unprecedented wine and gastronomic event on 4 October 2022. With nearly 300 participants, the Wine and Gastronomic Experience Day brought together wine professionals, journalists and major economic players from eight countries to discover the wine region.
This prestigious event started in the Liszt Ferenc Conference and Cultural Centre in Sopron with a welcome speech by Dr. Ciprián Farkas, Mayor of Sopron and Dr. István Gábor Schneider, Vice President of the Sopron Wine Region, who presented the “eccentric” Sopron wine region and its gastronomic and cultural diversity. At the opening ceremony, the mayor emphasised that “We here in Sopron are convinced that Sopron wine is not on the shelf where it should be, but we also know that this can only be achieved by working together. For our part, we would like to do everything we can to ensure that the winemakers in Sopron also take on this task together, as it is in the common interest of all of them that Sopron wine is better perceived”.
The thirty-three exhibitors, including 20 wineries, will present the best of Sopron’s wines with 70 featured lots, giving an insight into the treasures of this region. In addition to the wines of Sopron, unique gastronomic experiences awaited the invited guests, who could taste a wide variety of gastronomic delights and regional dishes, in addition to exciting wines.
The visitors could hear many interesting facts and legends related to Sopron during the downtown walks led by Tamás Taschner and István Vránich. During the guided tours, participants were also given an insight into the hidden values, curiosities and legends of Sopron.
The main patron of the event, Attila Barcza, Member of Parliament, Vice-Chairman of the Economic Committee of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Tourism Sub-Committee, joined the group during the tour of the city, ” Flowing Sopron “, by Tamás Taschner.
Those who could not participate in the exciting downtown walks could also learn about the legends of the Sopron wine region at the meeting venue, with a presentation by Tamás Taschner.
The event was further enhanced by the inspiring “Wine speaks from us” professional programme, when Dr. Attila Fiáth, international wine academician, Dr. András Csizmadia, founder of BorSchola, wine expert, Sándor Viniczai, wine expert, Kurt István Taschner, Secretary General of the Hungarian Wine Academy and Tibor Molnár, President of the Sopron Wine Road Association, discussed important topics such as the importance of cooperation, the situation of Hungarian wine, the indispensable role of branding and branding, and the relevance of international recognition.
The end of the harvest season was made even more memorable during the all-day taste tour with great bands (Váradi-Haász Duo – Andrea Simon, Four Corners, Blue Cafe Band).
